Ms. O’Beirn decided to write the Unwavering Strength book series to help channel her grief when her husband, Gerry, became ill with cancer and ultimately passed away from the disease in 2012.
However, her personal whirlwind of loss began four years earlier with the death of her mother in 2008, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Within months she lost her beloved dog to the disease, and cancer also took two of Judy’s sisters-in-law within a year of each other.
Rather than let grief swallow her up, Ms. O’Beirn decided to focus her energy on finding ways to help others experiencing similar loss and trauma.
